Yuriy Shevchuk has been engaged in public activities in the field of environmental protection since 1979. He started at the all-Russian society for nature protection, and in 1986 organized his own environmental organization-the Bureau of environmental research. From 1989 to 1992, he was a member of the Presidium of the Council of the Green Movement of Russia. And since 1993, he has been working in various positions in the Green cross system. Currently, he is the Chairman of the North-Western Green cross of Russia. His is also an author of the series "the World in 2050" on Mozgokratiya website, and an author of 32 TV shows based on the book "Amazing and mysterious places of the Leningrad region". In addition, Yuriy Shevchuk is a member of the Council for environmental protection under the government of Saint Petersburg and a member of the public Council under the Department of forestry of the northwestern Federal district.
