JAPAN. Typhoon Crossa. Wind speed reached 126 km/h (78.3 m/h).
Russian Federation - Primorsky Kray: On August 15, Typhoon Crossa reached the shores of Primorsky Krai in Russia and brought about 70% of the monthly rainfall to the areas, causing floods in five rivers,local residents were affected.
STRONG MONSOONS, LANDSLIDES
INDIA. Monsoon has become one of the most destructive for India in the past 10 years. About 6 million people have suffered from the consequences of the disaster. There were casualties. Heavy rains caused dozens of landslides in different regions of the country.
LETHAL LANDSLIDE IN MYANMAR (PAUNG). On August 10, 2019, a mudslide killed 65 people. Almost 12,000 people had to evacuate due to monsoon rains and floods.
SUDAN. Rains and floods damaged more than 9,000 homes in 16 states. The natural disaster has claimed the lives of 46 people.
TAIWAN. About 4,000 families were left without electricity. An emergency situation was declared, classes in schools were cancelled and state institutions were closed.
PAKISTAN. About 160 people died in the country because of the floods. In two days, 180 mm of rainfall fell in Karachi, that caused irreversible consequences.
SWITZERLAND. As a result of heavy precipitation, the Lozenets River overflowed and there are missing people.
SAUDI ARABIA (RAIN IN MECCA). This is an atypical phenomenon at this time of year, with usually no more than 1.4 mm of rainfall in August. Temperature dropped to +26 °C (usually +40 °C)
FIRES, VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS, EARTHQUAKES
INDONESIA. The government declared a state of emergency in six provinces due to uncontrolled natural fires. As a result of the earthquake (M6,9-7,1) on Java Island on August 2, 2019 coastal residents were evacuated due to a tsunami threat (more than 200 houses damaged, there are dead).
PHILIPPINES. Earthquake M5.7. Residential houses and cultural heritage objects were destroyed. There are dead and injured.

Abnormally warm July 2019. Over the month, 217 billion tonnes of ice have melted. On July 31, 11 million tons of ice have turned into water. GREENLAND HAS LOST 56% OF ITS ICE SINCE 2012.
