A few months later, on January 4, 2014, a new eruption forced 20,000 people to flee their homes. A month later, just as the residents returned, a new explosion occurred, in which 14 people were injured. In the recent years, the volcano has not subsided. On October 24.2017, another explosion occurred, now with a descent of pyroclastic flows - a mixture of high-temperature gases, rocks and ash, which form during the eruption and destroy all life on their path . It should be noted that Sinabung is located in the "Pacific Ring of Fire" - the area of ​​active volcanoes which frame the Pacific Ocean.
