In Washington, D.C., during the international conference “Freedom Has a Name, And It’s Called Ukraine,” held under the leadership of Pastor Mark Burns, the ALLATRA team spoke with Yulia Nevmerzhytska, co-founder of the Regenerate Ukraine initiative, a civic leader and a cultural activist.
Yulia was born in Ukraine and has been closely connected with Ukrainian art and culture since childhood. She began her journey in theatre at a young age, participating in cultural events across the country. A devoted admirer of Ukrainian poetry, Yulia has received numerous awards for her recitations of Ukrainian poetry and prose, both in Ukraine and abroad.
For Yulia, the war is deeply personal: her entire family remains in Ukraine, including relatives in temporarily occupied Crimea. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022, she and her mother have been actively engaged in volunteer work, providing direct assistance to Ukraine.
After relocating to the United States, Yulia joined local Ukrainian organizations, continuing her longstanding efforts to support the community, promote Ukrainian culture, and strengthen international solidarity with Ukraine.
In this interview, Yulia shares her impressions of the conference and speaks about the importance of unity, faith, and shared responsibility in defending human life and freedom, emphasizing Ukraine’s role in upholding democratic values.
