At the United States Capitol Complex in Washington, D.C., during the international interfaith conference “United in Liberty: The Rise of Spiritual Diplomats,” led by Pastor Mark Burns, we spoke with Paul David Olangi - Vice-President of the Olangi-Wosho Foundation and Bishop General of the Church of the Awakening of Congo.
Paul David Olangi is a Congolese spiritual leader, humanitarian, and business executive whose work bridges faith-based leadership, economic development, and international cooperation. Since 2018, he has served as Vice-President of the Olangi-Wosho Foundation, promoting peace, humanitarian initiatives, and interfaith collaboration. In 2023, he became Bishop General of the Church of the Awakening of Congo, strengthening his longstanding commitment to spiritual leadership and community-building in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Alongside his religious and philanthropic responsibilities, he serves as President of the National Chamber of Commerce of the DR Congo and Chairman and CEO of Africa Veritas Holding SARL, reflecting his engagement in both private-sector leadership and national economic development.
In this thoughtful and forward-looking conversation, he shares:
• What spiritual diplomacy means beyond political divisions
• Why freedom of worship must be protected worldwide
• How faith and civic leaders can collaborate for social impact
• The importance of just laws that safeguard life, liberty, and moral responsibility
• A vision of global harmony built on shared human dignity
Speaking from experience in spiritual leadership, humanitarian initiatives, and public engagement, Bishop Olangi emphasizes a clear message: every human being deserves the right to live, believe, and worship freely - without fear of discrimination or persecution.
This interview is part of a global dialogue uniting faith leaders, policymakers, and civil society to promote spiritual freedom and human dignity across nations.
