On May 25, a rare natural event for the region occurred in southern Chile — an EF1 tornado. It swept through the city of Puerto Varas in the Los Lagos region, with wind speeds reaching up to 178 km/h, causing significant destruction.
The storm damaged about 250 houses. In the hardest-hit part of the city, some buildings were displaced by up to 15 meters, and recently built homes were completely destroyed.
The whirlwind tore roofs off a shopping center and a market and shattered windows. Due to fallen trees and downed power lines, over 25,000 homes lost electricity, and road traffic was paralyzed.
There were reports of 13 injured people, six of whom were hospitalized. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.
Local authorities responded promptly to the emergency, declaring a red alert. Municipal services were mobilized to clear debris and assist the population.
Residents said they had never experienced anything like this before. The mayor called the tornado an unprecedented event for the city.
Recently, tornadoes have been occurring more frequently in places where they were previously unknown. Why is this happening? What lies behind these sudden atmospheric disturbances?
Answers to these questions can be found in Dr. Egon Cholakyan’s new video, “Declaration That Will Shake Science.” He reveals the causes of climate anomalies, the threatening activity of the Siberian magmatic plume, and proposes a scientific experiment that could change our understanding of physics. This video is an important step toward understanding what is really happening to our planet.
