At the Interfaith Conference "United in Liberty: The Rise of Spiritual Diplomats", Nigerian development leader Manji Suhunshak Wilson delivers a stirring vision: spiritual diplomacy isn't about theology — it's about recognizing the one universal constant that unites humanity across every border, faith, and identity - and mobilizing it to rebuild a world in crisis.
Manji Suhunshak Wilson serves as Chief Technical Adviser on Development Partnerships, Strategic Linkages, and Diaspora Engagements to the Governor of Plateau State in Nigeria. He is Plateau State's designated Point of Contact for the Open Government Partnership programme, advancing transparency and citizen accountability. Mr. Wilson previously served as Deputy Project Coordinator for the European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria and for the EU-funded Pro-Peace Kenya Project focused on electoral conflict prevention. He has also served as Senior Advisor for ElectHER, advancing women's inclusion in politics across Africa, and as Special Assistant to the Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission to Nigeria 2023.
In this conversation, you'll discover:
• Why spirituality — not religion — is the universal human constant that unites Christians, Muslims, Hindus, traditionalists, and all people regardless of how they define themselves
• How the biblical story of Nehemiah rebuilding Jerusalem's broken walls mirrors today's urgent need for spiritual diplomats to rebuild societies shattered by displacement, trauma, and humanitarian crisis
• Why spiritual leaders uniquely hold "the key toward transforming the entirety of humanity" — because across every profession and identity, people follow spiritual guidance above all else
• How our interconnectedness across borders demands networked action: "Our people are more connected because difficulties that they suffer are similar" — requiring protection to become "center and paramount" in all leadership
This gathering proves that when spiritual diplomats rise — not tomorrow, not someday, but now — they become architects of repair in a fractured world. They remind us that broken gates can be rebuilt, burned walls can rise again, and traumatized communities can heal when leaders of conscience choose action over comfort. The moment for hesitation has passed. As Manji Wilson declares with prophetic urgency: "The world is waiting for the unveiling and the reach of spiritual leaders and the time for spiritual leaders to act is now. The better time would have been yesterday but the next best time is now."
