This week, nature struck different parts of the planet:
— The deadly storm Amy hit northern Europe, leaving 200,000 people without power in Ireland and causing the cancellation of 150 flights in Amsterdam.
— Typhoon Matmo dumped 453 millimeters of rain over Chinese cities in just three days, turning streets into literal seas of water.
— In Kamchatka, the mysterious Kronotsky volcano erupted after more than 100 years of dormancy.
— On the southern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, 410 millimeters of rain fell in 24 hours, triggering a sudden and powerful flood.
We’re used to thinking that extreme rainfall is just a consequence of global warming — warm air holds more moisture. That’s true. But there’s a hidden factor that official reports ignore — one that amplifies disasters many times over.
Imagine: trillions of microscopic plastic particles floating in the atmosphere like invisible dust. But this isn’t just trash — these are mini-capacitors, capable of storing electrostatic charge.
How do these plastic particles affect the weather? They become super-efficient condensation nuclei. As a result, clouds form lower and retain moisture longer than usual. And when it finally rains — it pours. Think of recent disasters: 453 mm of rain in three days in China, 410 mm in a single day in Bulgaria. That’s not just “heavy rain” — it’s an extreme downpour, intensified by nanoparticles.
According to the mathematical model developed by the ALLATRA international scientific community, we are witnessing not isolated anomalies, but a systemic planetary-scale crisis. Research has shown that nanoplastic is not just a pollutant — it’s an active participant in climate processes, altering the very physics of the atmosphere. Twenty years ago, the ALLATRA scientific group began studying nanoplastics and was among the first to warn about its threat.
However, most specialists today still do not consider micro- and nanoplastic as a significant factor in their environmental or climate calculations — and many are not even aware of its harmful effects on the planet’s climate system.
This problem cannot be solved by one research group alone. Global studies, international cooperation, and public demand for microplastic research are essential.
Your voice matters. Only when each person realizes the urgency of the problem and begins spreading awareness will its solution become possible. While we remain silent, the planet continues to build up its charge — and the next “ordinary rain” could turn into a catastrophe no one is ready for.
